About the Africa Youth Awards Story
Africa Youth Awards is a prestige award scheme with the prime aim of appreciating the works of young Africans in Africa and the Diaspora.
Launched in 2014, the Africa Youth Awards scheme was inspired by the lack of recognition for young Africans who have selflessly dedicated their lives to making sure the future of Africa is optimistic.

Prince Akpah is the President of the Africa Youth Awards. He describes himself as an African brewed in Ghana, who is passionate about Making a Difference.
Emmanuel Asieme Ayine – Vice President of Africa Youth Awards
Emmanuel Asieme Ayine Vice President – Africa Youth Awards – Celebrating the Youth of Africa – Trained Journalist and motivational speaker Emmanuel hails from Bolgatanga in Ghana.
Terser Joseph Adamu – Chief Operating Officer Africa Youth Awards
Terser Joseph Adamu, the Chief Operating Officer of Africa Youth Awards, holds a Natural Science degree and is in charge of the day to day operations.

The African Youth Awards
The Focus of the Africa Youth Awards is to highlight the accomplishments of young achievers in the areas of entrepreneurship, art, education, technology, politics, innovation, media, entertainment and humanitarianism.
By celebrating and rewarding these young people, we empower them to continue striving for excellence, and the good of Africa. Also, by using their stories we inspire others to follow along this path.
To be eligible to win an Africa Youth Awards; applicants must:
- Be 35 Years or Below
- Be of African Descent (and working to support Africa)
- Show leadership, innovation, creativity, and/or entrepreneurship in their nominated category.
- No specific educational or academic background is required for nomination.
Nominating a Young Achiever
- Specify the award for which the candidate is being nominated Include background information and highlight any previous awards received and accomplishments that are relevant to the awards.
- Explain in detail why the candidate deserves the award. Please give detailed examples of the activities, programs, etc. the candidate is involved in and provide specific information that supports why you are nominating this person.
- Provide websites or insight on where our reviewers can gather more information on the candidate.
- Information required include: Name of Nominee, Nationality, Gender, Age, Email, Organisation, and Short Biographies.

This Category is to honour a Young Leader who is at the helm of affairs in a significant organisation and has distinguished him/herself with exceptional leadership qualities with a dream, passion and obligation to achieve and impact more.
– Emerging Media Personality of the Year
This category is to honour a young personality blazing trails in the media industry (TV, Radio, Print and Digital) and involved in changing the narrative about Africa through the creation and distribution of constructive contents to inspire and inform people across the world about Africa.
– Literary Excellence Award
This category is to recognize the creativity of a young person involved in creating, writing and publishing of literature to promote the creativity abounded on the continent with so much excellence.
– Emerging Advocate of the Year
This category is to recognize a young person who has adopted various legal means to represent the voiceless across Africa and has become influential in directing public and private policies and impacting lives across the continent.

This category is to honour a young person whose role in running a public office has created enough impact. The personality’s integral role should be worthy of emulation among peers and other people across the continent.

This category is to honour a young person who has demonstrated influence in the entertainment and art industry (film, music, poetry, drama) coupled with a positive reputation and has the potentials of becoming an Ambassador for Africa.
– Emerging Actor of the Year
This category celebrates the young person who has gone above and beyond in achieving their goals in acting, on screen and off screen. This could involve being an inspiration to others by dedicating time and effort to help people to be a leading light in the industry.
– Emerging Civil Society of the Year
This category is to recognize a civil society organisation that has created and has diligently acted on its dream of representing the views of the marginalized with unprecedented results.
– Emerging Fashion Personality of the Year
This category is to honour a creative young person who has created a reputation for him/herself in the fashion industry as a Designer or a Model and does represent professionalism and the core values of an African in his/her outlooks and works.
– Social Enterprise of the Year
This category is to honour a Social Enterprise (including NGOs) which has been able to implement wide-ranging and impactful programs contributing to the growth of the continent in sectors such as health, education, agriculture, technology, science etc.

This category is to recognize an accredited educational institution playing a major role in developing ingenious human resources to contribute to our development demonstrated by the capability and achievements of its students.
