The President, his deputy and the government of Kenya claim to be fighting corruption. We have seen high profile arrests and arraignments but sill no convictions. Is this effort genuine?

Do you believe there is a genuine fight against corruption going on in Kenya?

No there isn’t. Unfortunately those in power know what people want to hear while doing the very thing they claim to fight against. Corruption takes many form and it starts in the home. That is where the fight should be focused and let that culture grow while instilled in th children into their old age.

We all act according to our own self interest. ‘What’s in it for me? ‘. And it’s perfectly healthy since it’s proven that when people pursue their own self interest there is an unintended societal benefit.
The problem only comes when we do it at the expense of others. That’s what a majority of Kenyan leaders do. It’s difficult to eradicate corruption totally because of the society we are in but it’s not impossible.
I think it’s the voter who has the power of controlling the politician. Not voting them in and relaxing until we hear of a scandal. Because institutions that are charged with investigating and doing the oversight role are also part of the problem.
I long for the day when not even a dime will be spent in the name of ‘development projects’ without the consent of the kenyan voter.
No…
Just how many billions are stolen on a daily basis that the kenyan mwananchi is not aware of?
For the cases that are indeed brought to limelight, in most scenarios the case ends up with the culprit being released after bond is settled. They use the very money they stole to free themselves in order to steal more yet we expect change when the rot is never really dealt with.

Other leaders are genuine but the problem is at the top. As much as you want to change things the people with power at the top control everything that happens in this country including corruption.

I think government is a complex composition of groups and individuals with different interests. Some genuinely toil to ensure our country is running smoothly, some are in it for the looting.
Nyamweya
No because no poor person can get in to politics and politics will remain to family’s and their generation
Nyamweya
There is no genuine because even leaders are corrupt so it will never end
Mercy Jelagat
No I don’t think so because we are used to be corrupt , ithink no one can say am not corrupt , starting from a child and a parent ,ie if u whant to sent your child to shopping center then she or he refused u will corrupt his mind by giving him or her ten shilling fo a sweet an he or she will grow up knowing that when u do something u u should be given a token , ithink it’s impossible as the society is rotten.
Nyamweya
No corruption is bring fighten because everyone who is in government is a corrupt

It’s a conflicting situation where you no longer understand what’s happening and what’s not happening but we are forced to believe what’s relaid to us.I would say there is some little effort being made but to be honest the outside world is doing much more for us than we are doing here.

nothing as such…just a new game formation. This includes the dictatorship ongoing as seen and the sweeping out of those against the main man….
Faustine Nyamira
THERS genuine fight against corruption in Kenya, just not by the government… it’s by the people.

you have a point…
State Capture: On Kenya’s Inability to Fight Corruption
Interview
Since the launch of Transparency International (TI)’s Corruption Perceptions Index in 1995, Kenya has invariably foundered in the bottom third of the countries surveyed. TI-Kenya’s Bribery Index reports widespread bribery; some institutions, including the police, land registries and county licensing services are notoriously predatory. In Kenya, and globally, corruption undermines the state by weakening public institutions, eroding both their effectiveness and their resilience. In addition, and more insidiously, it corrodes the social norms and values that hold communities together, deepens inequalities and drives conflict.

It has never been and will never be.

What we have in Kenya are side shows. The fight against corruption has been ‘weaponized’ to an instrument of political gain. If you support the government and you are corrupt then you aren’t hunted down. The moment you speak against the government, you are hunted day and night.
Also, number 2 in this country is one of the most corrupt people in this country. But what does the president do? Sit and watch. On the other hand, ‘La Familia’ has turned the government into their own machinery to enrich themselves. Setting the engines rolling towards State Capture. There is no serious fight against corruption. Just a fight to destroy the competition in business using government machinery.

They claim that manufacturing is part of the Big Four Agenda but they are shutting down factories daily.
Some are really trying but others are really not ready to fight corruption though they sugarcoat it with snything that diverts human attention

Nope. Smokescreen

i dont believe because every case taken to court its given a bond???
I am not sure if there is a true fighting of thi s biggest enemy in Africa Kenya specifically,
One might be cought as a corruption dealers but may be behind the seen he might not be so, just hatredness among the politician.
And especially this has to be clear, if really the government need to fight corruption it has to establish a Free and fair Body/bureau which is separate from either the political body, Judicial body or any other. Because in this process no one is safe , even the one whom we see is fighting to overcome it might be the forerunners na pioneers of it.
So in Africa still there is no a genuine fight of Corruption though at least there is awareness that Corruption is an enemy of devlp. among our communities.
Thanks

The fight against corruption can neither be genuine nor real. Let me explain why: You see, corruption is not a person or a thing that can be put aside. It is also not confined to the legal and moral standards of the country. It is a personal decision made by individuals each minute from the government to our homes.
It is even more complex than this it is just that the corrupt politicians are more visible and accountable to a larger group of people. What cause corruption? What makes you want to steal from the vulnerable? This goes deeper into the way we were brought up the the values instilled from our churches and schools.
Also, there’s no yes and no because we can never get rid of such a monster. Human beings are selfish in nature and will always put their interests first. All we can do is reduce the rate of corruption and protect the most vulnerable from it all.
Ms. Atieno
No. We will know it is genuine when money and assets of high profile corrupt people are seized, and if they actually end up in prison for more than just the weekend…
Wanjeri Thea
Money and Assets are seized many times but the perpetrators are still roaming free. Don’t seize the assets, seize the corrupt thieves.
