Rich nations worldwide have set up massive economic stimulus packages that include things like unemployment benefits to those affected.
With limited fiscal space African governments have opted for other measures to combat the pandemic, For instance Kenya issuing tax cuts, setting up emergency funds and seeking help from the world bank and other financial institutions to beef up the health sector and help cushion the affected citizens. Is it enough?
Do you think that African governments can do more in terms of economic stimulus packages to cushion their citizens against the pandemic?

As you wait fie a stimulus package, people are out here grinding like normal and making more money because there’s less competition from those who are still staying home and complying to a govenent directive that doesn’t care how you will pay your rent, get your next meal or make your next pay check.

If we are well organised we can make it work.

All they can do is to be less corrupt. We have all the resources we need. In addition to what we have, we have already gotten so much money or in-kind donations from foreigners personal or organizations.

If stimulus packages are incorrectly handled they can negatively affect the economy as governments will end up getting further into debt with global funding while lessening its tax revenue via the tax cuts and there high chances of that sparking inflation if the government bails out its citizens and yet there’s no production to backup this funding

Yeah, this is very true . Sparking of demand without real output can expose us to inflation

Even developed countries don’t have this, don’t expect it in Africa any time soon. And even if it was there, how would it be distributed?
Don Nyagudi
That would be another problem. For instance distributing unemployment benefits since most people were unemployed even before the pandemic.
