we are still not very receptive though there is still hope for those yet to come. it will still be hard but there is hope that one day it will no longer be a fight but the norm

To understand the origins of the gender gap – the first step to knowing how to encourage women to participate at the same rate as men.

Dominance is a terrible word especially in the absence of consent. No one gender should dominate the other, what we need is equitable spaces that are all inclusive of the needs and issues of all equally without any bias.

Africa is not even ready for a poor president, we are still stuck in tribalism and classism. If you are not rich and you don’t come form the right family, you are wasting your time. Unless people decide to think about real development, we will continue being victims of the political class.

We have come a long way too and should use the present privilege to seek better representation for everyone.

It is almost impossible to speak of Africa as a whole because it is not even the 55 parts we have been told to believe. That aside, and looking at the traditional African society, we had systems that were predominantly matriarchal and that was the norm.
Many villages were led by women officially and this was not even something new or strange. When the europeans came over and started plundering our resources they also stole our culture and replaced it with their backward ideologies.
The idea of equality did not exist in Africa before because there was a power balance that considered each and every member of society. It actually did not matter what gender you are, the responsibilities were clearly spelt out and he core interest was always the community at large.
Today, that may not be the case. The west still controls most parts of the Africa and the people in power are just puppets who take advantage of the situation and rob from the people. Selfishness and greed has taken over and that is what we should start fighting before we can talk of equality.
We could have every African country led by women but if the core selfishness and greed exists, there will be no change.
