When he was still President Museveni’s favorite and IGP of Uganda Police (UPF), Kale Kayihura created an elaborate network of “crime preventers” across the entire country.
Created in 2013, the so-called "crime preventers" were estimated in the upwards of 11 million people by 2018 when President Museveni fired Gen Kayihura and ordered the network to disbanded allegedly because Kayihura was planning to use them to topple the Museveni government, charges the former denied.
Kayihura had insisted that his "crime preventers" were assisting in community policing. However, Kayihura was not entirely telling the truth because in the 2016 elections he had deployed youths under this program to steal the election from Dr. Kiiza Besigye.
Museveni needs Kayihura again. Just last week Museveni's half-brother and de facto regime No.2 Gen Salim Saleh ordered Kayihura to find him in Gulu, according to sources.
While in Gulu, Saleh briefed Kayihura that he had a message for him from President Museveni: An order to revive the "crime preventers" structures for the purpose of ensuring Museveni's re-election by whatever means necessary, including ballot stuffing and physical exclusion of opposition agents from voting points.
Kayihura immediately, under cover of silence, immediately embarked on his task in Gulu. Ten billion (10.5bn) shillings has since been allocated to him for this task that he will carry out across the country.
In Kampala alone, 2 million crime preventers will be reactivated.
However, Gen Kayihura still has charges to answer under court-martial. He is also under US sanctions for his brutality towards “walk to work” demonstrators.
It speaks to Museveni’s desperation that he is now reduced to deploying officers to help ensure he retains his hold on power even as he accuses them of serious state security crimes.
Observers note that once he is done helping steal the election for him, Museveni will be forced to either give Gen Kayihura a position in government as a reward or eliminate him.
Museveni will have to choose whether to eat humble pie and admit that his charges against Gen Kayihura were a witch-hunt and also to annoy Americans by appointing him, or he will cut his losses and permanently get rid of him.
However, Museveni is on record saying loyalty to friends is a weakness. The writing is on the wall.
Gen Kayihura, who is experienced enough in election-rigging will, without a doubt, deliver for Museveni. But in so doing he will also be digging himself a grave.
He will be the first to understand, therefore, that his deployment, with the implied promise of rehabilitation, is also a poisoned chalice. His reward could well be a six-foot hole.See less
A Letter to the 10th President of Uganda, His Excellency, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu A.K.A Bobi Wine!
Your Excellency Future President of Uganda, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu A.K.A Bobi Wine… We, members and supporters of NUP on social media, mindful of recent security challenges, hereby issue the following note to you, our beloved leader:
Several people killed and dozens wounded in protests in Uganda, following the arrest of presidential candidate Bobi Wine.
His supporters blocked roads and burned tires in the capital, Kampala, prompting police to fire tear gas and bullets. Wine says he has been repeatedly beaten and tortured, while police continue to crack down on his supporter’s Wine has been in politics since 2017 when he won a seat in the national assembly.
The presidential hopeful has been arrested many times since. Analysts say he is gaining popularity among young people who are hoping he will bring change to a country ruled by President Museveni for three and a half decades.
Uganda has never witnessed a peaceful transfer of power since independence in 1962. Al Jazeera’s Laura Burdon-Manley reports.

2. Camp in the Compound of a Security Establishment
3. Do Not Lose Your Temper
1. Acquire Camping Kits Urgently
Given the hardship, you have been experiencing in accessing accommodation or hotel facilities after your rallies, kindly acquire camping kits urgently.
We are worried that once they realize that they cannot block you from hotels, they will change tactics to make hotels unsafe for NUP and its leader.
They are not above using poison, arson, and other dubious means to intimidate or assassinate rivals.
Your entire team should travel with camping equipment including sleeping bags and toilet kits.
2. Camp in the Compound of a Security Establishment
For your safety, camp in the compound of a security establishment, a police station, or a military post or within its vicinity.
It will force them to give you security, as they will not be able to explain an attempt on your life within their compound.
As Ugandans, we have the right to security, and we are sure that the majority of members of the security corps support you to be our 10th President of the Republic of Uganda.
Camping is not comfortable, but we are in a struggle and we must deprive ourselves of some privileges like showering and hotel beds.
We shall have a hot shower when we arrive at Statehouse, Nakasero, and Entebbe.
As you know, the road will be full of obstacles and death traps.
3. Do Not Lose Your Temper:
Do not lose your temper, Excellency, especially when they attack you. The Dictator wants you to get angry and lose focus on the people.
They are provoking you deliberately to test your breaking point. All Ugandans are with you, just laugh off their provocations as nothing but kicks of a dying horse.
God Bless you, God Bless Uganda People Power & Our Power.
Museveni propagandist, Mwenda, spotted flouting covid guidelines
Andrew Mwenda has been screaming at the top of his lungs, denouncing Bobi’s campaign that pulls crowds of enthusiastic supporters, by claiming that the NUP candidate was “on mass suicide mission.” Two days later, a video emerged where Mwenda is seen drinking in a bar and exchanging words in close contact with a young man. The two are not wearing masks.
This is who Mwenda really is: a mercenary who doesn’t believe in the things he preaches. While he takes Bobi’s supporters for fools who cannot decide for themselves and assess the risks they take for the change they want, he arrogates himself the right to flout the very same guidelines he has been accusing Bobi of not respecting. Is Mwenda a candidate for mass suicide? Will he blame Bobi too if he finds himself in a hospital?
The truth is, Mwenda couldn’t care less about covid and the lives of Ugandans. His repeated attempts to vilify Wine are only informed by the need to keep his master in power even if that requires him to exploit the loss of close family members for his propaganda.
BREAKING: If you want to kill me, you will have to do it in public – Bobi Wine tells Museveni
Presidential aspirant Robert Kyagulanyi a.k.a Bobi Wine has vowed to not use diversionary routes to his campaign rally sites. He has said the diversionary routes are being imposed on him as part of a secret plan to kill him.
Throughout his campaign, police has been barring Bobi Wine from using main routes to access his rally sites and instead diverted him backroads that are bad and isolated.
“Whenever we are diverted, they ambush us in isolated areas and shoot at us or arrest us. In just two weeks they have killed 300 of my supporters and arrested thousand. I tell Museveni this, I have decided I will not use his diversionary routes. I will stay on the main roads. If you want to kill me, you will have to do it in public and on camera!” said Bobi Wine while campaigning in Zombo today.
He pointed out that Museveni has attempted to kill him on several occasions, but failed because the media was always there.
“Thanks to the media. They have exposed Museveni’s evil plans. He has failed to kill me because the media is always there. Nothing he does will stop the revolution. I am not here because I am a professor, a soldier or a politician. I am a freedom fighter. When I look at you I see myself and so is you. You see yourselves in me and that’s why I am here to represent you. I want to bring an end to slavery. We have been made slaves in our own land,” the highly popular candidate told a mammoth crowd of his supporters in Zombo. He then headed for Madi Okoro.
Mpenkoni sends Sheikh Muzaata to the grave, to follow Afande Kirumira
Outspoken senior Muslim cleric, Sheikh Nuhu Muzaata Batte of Kibuli died a mysterious death on Friday, December 4, 2020. He passed away at International Hospital Kampala (IHK) where he had been admitted for two weeks.
According to reliable intelligence sources Muzaata, nicknamed “Empologoma” known for never beating about the bush has been on Museveni’s hit list. Muzaata was killed with a slow working poison by Museveni’s Nakasongola “chemists”. These are assassins highly trained in the use of military-grade poisons.
Sheikh Muzaata’s killing was planned at a lengthy State House meeting that specifically deliberated on how to eliminate the outspoken clergyman.
Muzaata’s only “crime” was rallying the Muslim community to ditch the ruling party, NRM (and its decades upon decades-long ruler Museveni) for NUP candidate Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.
In a video clip aired by NTV, Sheikh Muzaata revealed he knew there was a government plan to kill him. He mentioned the “warnings” and death threats issued him because of blocking Museveni from meddling in the affairs of the Muslim community.
Sheikh Muzaata reiterated his stance on defending Muslims’ rights and how he was ready to die for that. “Mujye munzite mbavire!” he said recently (“come and kill me, and I will leave you”).
Muzaata continued, “I know am next, but I will not allow the government to beat the drums of war amongst Muslims.”
Now history has repeated itself, following the assassination of the equally outspoken former DPC of Buyende, the late ASP Muhammad Kirumira who was shot dead by motorcycle-riding assassins. These were state operatives that eliminated Kirumira for his stance against Museveni.
Kirumira’s pleas about death threats following fell on deaf ears. He even provided the names of state operatives, including CP Frank Mwesigwa and a Col. Musherure who were following him around, openly threatening his life. Despite the pleas, Museveni went ahead and killed Afande Kirumira.
In another much-publicized video clip, Kirumira said: “When you speak you die, when you don’t speak you die. So, better speak and die when the message has reached the people. My communication to the killers who hold the guns is that killing me now is useless because I have fulfilled my objective of communicating to the society like a Messiah!”
After these words, the outspoken police officer was gunned down.
Sheik Muzaata has paid the price of criticizing Museveni’s brutal, murderous and corrupt rule as his fellow patriots ASP Kirumira, AIGP Felix Kaweesi, Gen. Aronda Nyakairima, Gen James Kazini, Brig Noble Mayombo to mention but a few.
