Vasectomy is highly demonized in Kenya and Africa at large and is seen almost as a death sentence when in hind sight, most family planning methods can potentially cause extreme side effects.
It is quite unfair to the woman when society expects her to be responsible when sex takes two to tango.
I believe that responsible family planning methods should be emphasized to both men and women for a healthier future.
How can we sensitize vasectomy as a family planning method in Kenya/Africa?

community education and educating men that it is not an assault on your manhood

That’s not correct bro.
You will still ejaculate semen which just won’t contain semen. So nothing changes there. What you wish for is not ideal, as those pills and patches come with side effects, where as with vasectomies its mostly just discomfort post operation. Reversing a vasectomy is very expensive and is not 100% certain that it will work.
That said this is a solution for people who have had their children and are calling it a day. I would not advise young people who have not had families to have vasectomies. Another reason why men don’t generally entertain the ide is because men can go on well into old age being able to bear children so they always want to ‘keep their options open’.

More men who have done it should come out in public and share.

I would not have a vasectomy although I’m not against it. I am trying to picture sex without the ejaculation and the sensation of sperm leaving my body and it does not seem real at all.
Even if this is reversible and is a better option when taking part in the family planning burden, I think we need to do better. It is a good idea but let’s come up with alternatives that men can happily embrace instead of forcing one solution into our life.
As a man, I also want a family planning solution that I can easily take like p2 or the coil or patches etc. Trust me, the fear of having a kid when you aren’t ready or getting a disease is there but we just don’t have a desired solution.
Let’s get back to the drawing board instead of bashing men.

Most men have been taught false things about sex. They feel like their manhood is the only thing that makes them who they are. Mention things like vasectomies or even alternative male contraception and they go crazy. I know some men who have proudly done vasectomies and it has not reduced who they are. More education will help those who are still in the dark about the importances of this.
