There are two main pandemics we are fighting at the same time:
Sadly, the fight for each virus has been turned into a classist fight between two groups of people:
1. The Rich (senior government officials and fraudulent business individuals)
2. The Poor (low income citizens, physically challenges, homeless…)
On one hand, the rich are not really afraid of Coronavirus as much as the poor. They are even talking about taking the lockdown time off to rest, learn a skill, spend time with loved ones… Some are even more concern about the economy about how their investments are being affected.
In contrast, the poor are devastated by the virus and the subsequent rules including getting masks or sanitisers, staying within the lockdowns and keeping time for the curfews.
Firstly, the lockdown prevents movement and thus limits how far the poor can go in search for their daily bread. Since most of them live inclose proximity in Ghettos and Slums, the few jobs there have been over exhausted and the increased availability of manpower coupled with desperateness, has reduced the monetary value of work.
Secondly, the curfew limits how much time people can spend at work. Since most of the poor people are casual labourers who they are paid per hour, this greatly affects their income. With their jobs located far from where they live, it means they have to travel long distances, work for very short times so as to beat the curfew and head back home. With increased bus fares, this leaves them to spend most of the money on movement or choose to walk all the way and save.
Lastly, all this means that they are trapped within a dilemma of conscience. Do they spend the little cents left after such a day on masks and sanitiser or do they buy food? The government wont arrest them for staying hungry but will throw them into jail for not wearing a mask.
The rich wants the poor to stay at home to avoid the spread, but hunger won’t allow the poor to stay at home. The poor fear that if they stay at home, the hunger virus will kill them. The rich fears that if they also come out of their homes the coronavirus will kill them…
In order to restore the world to its normal social equilibrium: The rich should assist the poor with food, so that they can stay at home. When the rich succeeds in keeping the poor at home by providing enough food, The spread of the coronavirus which the rich fears the most will be chased out!
This is common sense…..Yet because some people (rich senior government officials) have the microphones, all you hear is …… “stay at home”………. “stay at home” …
How can the poor protect themselves from the novel Hungervirus which catches them when they stay at home?
