There have been a lot of debate on music in churches with members of the congregation being discouraged not to listen to secular music. With a saying that it ‘if it is not for the glory of God it should not be heard.
Is secular music bad? Should Christians not listen or associate themselves with secular music or musicians

In my opinion, not all secular music is bad. It is however discouraged because as human beings, we may not know what is bad bad even when we do, we may not have the will to stop. We are advised to be cautious about what we watch, read or hear, because these influence our characters. I would listen to Celine Dion for instance, but would try to avoid the likes of Anaconda by Nikki Minaj or the song “turn down for what” and the likes.
As much as sang words linger more in the mind than spoken words, I would be more concerned about how both ‘the letter and spirit’ apply so that even our very speech is found worthy and edifies both ourselves and others.

Christians are suppose to glorify God in all they do including music. The spirit behind secular music is not of God and therefore not suitable for Christians. Secular music doesn’t glorify God but instead, it glorifies the flesh and the world.
some secular music have the general veiw of life as a spectrum.so to dictate either to listen or not i think its ones decision to choose on what to listen to relating to secularity of music .there are some secular songs that are worth listening compared to some “Christian songs” we have

What is the definition of secular and gospel? I have listened to Willy Paul and have also listened to Eric Wainaina, I will go for Eric Wainaina any day… And I still love God. Hehe.
I like that question…the difference between ‘secular’ and ‘gospel’. Sadly, gospel music is taken to be music mentioning God or church stuff, or sang by a ‘gospel artist’.
Where do most lullabies and nursery rhymes fall? 🙂
