Some people have wondered how come the international community is silent when President Tibuhaburwa Museveni harasses his main challenger, Kyagulanyi Sentamu when he has many times tried to kill him and has abducted and murdered in cold blood thousands of his party activists or supporters, as well as the conspicuous silence after stealing elections.
According to Global Fire Power, Uganda Military Strength (2021) For 2021, Uganda is ranked 89 of 139 out of the countries considered for the annual GFP review. It holds a PwrIndx* rating of 2.1208 (0.0000 considered ‘perfect’). What’s next for Uganda’s opposition as President Yoweri Museveni moves to extend his 35-year reign?

$ 1.6 billion USD Wired to France and $ 300m USD to Russia.
Well, we now know the answer. A highly credible source has revealed that Museveni recently transferred immense amounts of money to France and Russia to buy military equipment, including fighter jets.
The amounts are truly scandalous. A total of US 1.6 billion dollars has been wired in various tranches to France and another US 300m dollars to Russia. The source says that although he could only confirm the transfers to France and Russia from the money transfer documents he has read, it is clear that Museveni is on a shopping spree to buy foreign support.

International Community Silence on Uganda’s Rigged Elections
Museveni has transferred almost two billion dollars to only two countries. Meanwhile, we lack basic infrastructure. Our health and education sectors are completely dilapidated.
Our hospitals are run down; doctors and nurses are not paid and many have left for private clinics to serve the rich, even as preventable deaths are taking our people.
People getting sick are now reduced to having to go to the village to get herbal medicine from abasawo abaganda. They have given up on ever getting any access to modern medicine from Museveni’s government.

Our children are learning from under trees
Our children are learning from under trees. There are no classroom buildings or chairs – let alone desks – for them to sit on. No blackboards. No toilets. Those in towns are catching diseases from poor sanitary conditions at school and their village counterparts still use the bushes as toilets and leaves as toilet paper.

Click To TweetMuseveni is just insensitive to the suffering of Ugandans; it is as if Uganda is still in his favorite era, the time of the Bachwezi. Yet, no one will give him the advice to do things differently; not to buy costly military hardware when Ugandans lack the barest of basic needs. After all, he is Tibuhaburwa – one who knows everything.
Otherwise, how do you explain the transfer of more than ten times the entire ministry of health budget to buy weapons when your people don’t have medicine.

In hospitals around the country, Covid-19 is wreaking havoc and there are not enough hospital beds let alone oxygen for people whose lungs have entirely collapsed and can no longer breathe unassisted by respirators.
Meanwhile, the total of the health and education budgets is 6.2 trillion shillings (3.5 for education and 2.7 for health) the equivalent of 1.7 billion dollars, almost as much as the money Museveni is sending to France alone, to buy armaments. To that add that extra US 300 million to Russia. Not to procure medical supplies, but to buy yet more weaponry!

But it gets worse.

Gargantuan Amounts Museveni is Spending on Weapons is borrowed
These gargantuan amounts Museveni is spending so lavishly on these weapons is not even money he has saved in the consolidated fund.
These gargantuan amounts Museveni is spending so lavishly on these weapons is not even money is borrowed, meaning our future is being mortgaged with nothing in return except tanks and jet fighters. Click To TweetIt is borrowed money, meaning that it is not only our present needs that are being sacrificed at the altar of extremely expensive weapons purchases, but the future of our children is also being mortgaged with nothing in return except tanks and jet fighters to shore up the ego of the self-described Ssabalwanyi.
With the international community compromised, only we can save our Pearl of Africa.
