    Yes, they are.
The question as to what extent and whether they are fully getting their due is a whole complex one that need to be dissected per region, content, aggressiveness, branding, marketing, contract and all stakeholders in the works produced or to be produced.
Authors (recognised title for original producer of any works of copyright within Kenya and globally) in all aspects work like any other business or other scope of intellectual property.Besides the talent and ability to produce works, they need to set their mind on the commerce and economic value of their venture. Ownership of copyright works can be to one to multiple persons despite one out of the many having birthed the idea.See an artist who needs to make a productiin but lacks capital, right tools for fikming and people. He or she will find investors/sponsors and partners who will definetly need a share of the pie.Hence the dividends will flow to multiple parties and he will get according to agreed amount or percentage.Same as contract in entertainment world and employment.

      Facts?

This is also where vampires and leeches come in. Then again, that’s life. There’ll always be people who want to profit at other’s expense. Perhaps even when they didn’t contribute anything at all. I’ve been on the victim side of it completely unexpectedly but it’s alright, it’s shown me who to leave behind.
