Odhiambo Kaumah is a Math-and-Chemistry-teacher –turned-writer and a youth mentor who loves knitting words into poems and stories that speak to people’s hearts and heads. He is also an ardent freelancer and an academic research assistant. Odhiambo had a successful career as a teacher where he used his versatility while handling various personalities to learn how to learn people, listen to people’s stories, speak to people and write poems and stories that relate to people. His poetic works have been published in reputable literary magazines such as Kalahari Review, African Writers and his 'Elegy to Koffi Anan' appears in the Best African New Poets 2018 Collection. Kaumah is the founder of Ranjira Youth Mentorship Program, a community-based program that networks learners at various education levels into a mentorship scheme that aims to ensure a successful transition of learners to secondary schools, technical institutions and universities. If not writing or organizing the community for action, he is the dojo playing Tae Kwon Do or enclosed in a deep intellectual debate somewhere.
