Is Faith as ‘unquestionable belief’ still a relevant definition in this century of religious con-men and women? Or should faith be questionable?
For long to have faith, within the religious context, is to believe in someone (God) or something (God’s power to ‘save’) without questioning (or doubting) his ways mostly interpreted to you by his (anointed) servants (pastors, priests).
However, there seems to have risen a new team of servants who preach an extended version of doctrines and especially in the Christian Religion.
It is a season for radical supplications seeking material wealth.
It is a season for priest who stop at nothing to ‘extort’ money from their flocks and they are covered by this very definition of faith.
The flocks harbor an intense version of ‘unquestionable belief’. It is the season for miracles and these putative servants of G(g)od have perfected the art. People are resurrecting, healed, bathing with sodas, receiving calls from heaven directly…it is a whole mess!
Is it time we questioned our beliefs? And what are the factual (not true) answers we expect?
