There is a girl in a dry place in Kenya who uses torn sheets or old clothes to help herself when she hits puberty. She has to miss school during that time of the month for fear of messing up in class and being ridiculed by boys who have no idea how delicate her body is at the time. She does not have access to sanitary towels because of the remoteness of her home and lack of money to buy the expensive commodity.
What can we do to help her? What do girls go through during this time that young men who are future husbands need to know? How do girls cope with the challenges they face at this time and the changes their bodies go through?
Come with a packet of sanitary towels for donation to Haba Na Haba Charity Tours whom we are hosting this Friday on #FatumasVoice to tell us more about what they’re doing for girls in this country and educate us more on how we could improve the situation.
Be prepared also for poetry from Nairobi’s upcoming poets and songbirds.
