African representation in Media:
When you look at mainstream media including books are you happy with the representation of Africa? Would you say the films, music, books we read today about Africans are a true reflection of us as a people?
How exactly are you using your voice to tell your story or that of Africans? What’s your contribution towards shaping the narrative of Africa?

I have a blog titled Becoming The Muse, where I write on the beauty and chaos of the place I call home while also celebrating the magic and mystery of my ancestry… In my own way I am trying to capture the history that I am seeing unfold before my very eyes and I like to joke that one day in the way we used Rock Paintings to to figure out the way of life our ancestors, my blog will in its own way, offer insights from my perspective…
A lot of our past history used to be passed from generation to generation via oral tradition in folk tales and the like, a lot of information has been lost along the way and some never to be found.. Searching for Africa’s history you will find the authoritative texts arent written by native Africans our history has been told for us.
I usually encourage people to take up blogging as a way of taking back the narrative and populating the digital space with our perspectives and am part of team that encourages, supports and connects bloggers across the continent AfroBloggers

Some amazing artists are really doing us proud. Putting us on the map as they have done with music and books and paintings and comedy and Tv shows/films and whatnot. Personally, I am too shy for any of it. If it is not perfect, then it is not making it out of my book. Sad and stupid, but true. So yeah, zero contribution for as far as I go….
