Why are Atheists in Kenya so angry with religious people and God?
A while back, Harrison Mumia, the president of the Atheist Society in Kenya helped a needy mother pay her daughters school fees. Headlines were made when the mother thanked God instead of the Atheist Society which made Harrison and his fellows angry.
This conversation was picked up by media and even spilled over to Kenyans on Twitter where the Atheist Society received both support and ridicule by #KOT. I have also seen Atheists go under the name freethinkers association of kenya, which begs the question as to if they are trying to say other people are not free thinkers?
Harrison Mumia registered the first atheist Society in Kenya in February 17, 2016. The Kenyan Government suspended the registration of the Atheists In Kenya Society barely three months after it was registered. Harrison Mumia went to a court in Nairobi court concerning the de-registration of the society and I think he is still following that up.
They had initially branded themselves as the only legally registered atheist society in Kenya with a mission is to promote the growth and interaction of atheists in Kenya. After registration, they requested for a national Atheism Day to disprove the existence of God. That’s what I think led to their reregistration.
They ask, as other atheists do, how do you know God exists? An I ask them how do you know he doesn’t? Regardless of their answer, what makes them so Angry if their philosophy about God’s non-existence is right?
