African Development Bank was established in 1964 to free African states from the economic shackles of European and American controlled financial institutions.
However, few years down the line, against the advice and will of Nigeria, which is still the largest vote shareholder of the bank, other African countries mount pressure to allow for foreign investors to put money into the bank largely due to pressure and lobbying from France. In essence, the purpose of establishing the bank is to deal a significant blow.
As of today, America holds the second vote share at the bank after Nigeria and wants the Present Chairman, Dr. Akin Adesina out of the bank mostly based on his developmental strides that are unprecedented across Africa from the bank’s coffers.
Why do you think they want him out based on available evidence and what do you think is the best way forward for Africa to finally be free from the shackles of foreign powers?
