Why don’t African parents take rape seriously.

  • 2

I have been running a rape safe space for the last four years after my friend was raped. Most of the ladies benefitting from it have not bee able to get any kind of support from their parents. The parents have told them to not talk about it at all. Why is there so much hypocrisy or to them, rape is not serious?

i understand where this sentiment is coming from however i also disagree with it to an extent. we still have parents who listen and take actions when a report is done of rape.

Where is the evidence that African parents don’t take rape seriously? This is a huge generalisation if you don’t have any reference.
