MDF to sue Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) if the census jobs won’t be given to youths.
Kenya’s revolutionary Movement for Democratic Advancement (MDF) has threatened to move to court if the advertised census jobs will not be given to youths. In a statement released by the Executive chairperson Commissar Okung Ndege Serikal the revolutionary movement has reiterated that the large number of unemployed youths rightfully deserve those jobs.
They further warned that government employees must desist from going back to the villages in an attempt to clinch and grab all the jobs away from the youths.
“We want to categorically state that the advertised jobs by the KNBS are specifically meant for the unemployed Kenyan youths. Most of them are graduates who have remained unemployed for long and deserve these jobs! We want to ask government employees to kindly keep off and be generous enough to give struggling youths way.” Reads part of the statement
They asked the president to declare his position in the ongoing debate and must not be full of sideshows when fighting for the interest of youths. Many youths have laughed off President Kenyatta’s statement, when he confidently said that the youths is the main agenda he had!
“The president declared the other day that his main purpose is to fight for the space of youths, how ridiculous? Where bare those jobs? You say so but in actual sense, you do the contrary.Appointing aging political rejects and loyalists in plum jobs is a clear show that you have no respect for the youth. In deed Mr President you are right! You have youth at heart by nominating Maina kamanda to represent us in Parliament, Margaret Kobia to be youth CS, Moody Awori etc. Thanks for that. In deed we are very grateful for that. Keep up.”
The president has failed tremendously, many young Kenyans are languishing in poverty with good papers and CV intact in their houses, you get an interview but it’s just for formality the chances are already given out based on tribal ranking and corrupt deals!
Kenya National Bureau of Statistics last week circulated a memo indicating that they are now ready to receive applications from Kenyans who are ready for the upcoming Census.
“Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) is a State Corporation established under the Statistics Act (2006). It is the Principal Government Agency responsible for the collection, compilation, analysis, publication and dissemination of official statistical information and its custody. It also oversees the coordination, supervision and development of programmes within the National Statistical System.” the statement read.
According to survey by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) in 2018, 7 million Kenyans were unemployed with 1.4 million out of this figure desperately looking for jobs.
There are 2700 posts available for ICT supervisors across the country, 27,000 for content supervisors and 135,000 vacancies for enumerators. This mean that the number of those getting the jobs is less than a fifth of those actively looking for jobs.
MDF further warned that should the president and KNBS fail to listen o the plight of Kenyan unemployed youths, they will rally all the youths and unemployed Kenyans to the streets to claim their rightful place!
