What on Earth is Youth Uniting Africa about?

Are you ready for the new opportunities and threats of a developing Africa? Youth Uniting Africa is organising actionable conversations about possible solutions to emerging problems facing Youth in Africa.

The African continent is rich in natural resources. Some of its 54 countries boast resources like diamonds, sugar, gold, uranium, silver, oil and petroleum.

In spite of this, millions of youth across Africa are unemployed. One of the main struggles is to match one’s education and skills with current trends. This event seeks to highlight emerging opportunities for Youth in Africa: Ranging from entrepreneurship and job creation to partnership, collaboration and more.

Youth Uniting Africa, has been curated by Fatuma’s Voice in partnership with The Bright Continent, Alliance Francaise Accra and other like minded organisations, is set to be an annual youth conference happening in different African countries each year.

This will in turn help us promote community integration by bringing together people from different social backgrounds and exchanging ideas that will solve their most pressing social issues.

The Time to Act is NOW!

Ghana has always focused on economic empowerment as the key to youth development; apparently due to the alarming unemployment rate. However, this approach has failed.

As a young person, you make up the majority of the population. You know the issues and problems affecting youth in Ghana today. You have experienced the ups and downs of development. You have thought of creative ideas and solutions to all these issues.

3 Main Action Points of the Youth Uniting Africa forum:

  • Discuss the major challenges currently facing Youth in Africa and identify reasonable and actionable solutions.
  • Identify the emerging opportunities for Youth in Africa: Job Creation, Education, Talent Development, Policymaking and Governance.
  • Promote community integration by creating a shared Action Plan outlining actions African Youth can take to achieve both personal and continental goals.

Why Youth? Why Africa? Why now?

Africa’s population was at 1.216 billion (2016). Africa is the world’s youngest continent, with 60% of the Africa’s population under 25.

Africa also has the youngest population in the world. It is time for the youth to create solutions and take up the responsibility of building and developing Africa.
